With the explosive growth in usage of packaged enterprise applications, networked communications and collaboration, today’s enterprises can work closely and productive with more people in more places (real or virtual) and in more ways, than every before. While this opens up remarkable business opportunities, it also creates unprecedented challenges for access control compliance and governance. In addition to internal business needs for access control compliance and governance, more and more government regulations have been put in place that require today’s enterprises to reach a high level of access control compliance and governance to make governments, shareholders, and other enterprise stakeholders to trust and do business with these enterprises.
Valiantica's Application Role and Entitlement Manager is implemented to address today’s enterprises’ need for access control compliance and governance. Designed to allow enterprises to have a better control over the many different types of information assets - both within Enterprise settings as well as SaaS (Software As A Service) arrangements, the product brings the capabilities of governing the access and other fine grain entitlements to the line-of-business users. Using a unique risk-based analytics, and rich policy management, Valiantica’s Application Role and Entitlement Manager enables real-time risk management and auditable continuous compliance.
Role management helps a user manage authorization, which enables the user to specify the resources that users in enterprise applications are allowed to access. Role management lets users treat groups of users as a unit by assigning users to roles such as manager, sales, member, and so on. (For example, in MS Windows, a user create roles by assigning users to groups such as Administrators, Power Users, and so on.) After a user has established roles, he / she can create access rules in an enterprise application. For example, a web site might include a set of pages that the user wants to display only to members. Similarly, the user might want to show or hide a part of a page based on whether the current visitor is a manager. By using roles, the user can establish these types of rules independent from individual application users. For example, a visitor does not have to grant individual members of the web site access to member-only pages. Instead, the user can grant access to the role of member and then just add and remove users from that role as people sign up or let their memberships lapse.
Entitlement management goes a step beyond role management. It is finer grained access control. With role management, users are generally concerned with who is allowed into a network or application, or a web site. With entitlement management, the interest shifts to who is allowed to do what once they are in the network or application or website. Here’s a simple analogy. Role management determines who can gain access to your house. Once a visitor is in, he / she have access to everything within the home. Entitlement management would scrutinize each visitor to determine which rooms each one can enter, and what each person can do in those rooms once in them. Traditionally, entitlements have been built into each application a enterprise has. Valiantica’s strategy is to remove access management from the applications and run it as a shared service in front of the applications. Entitlement management can be used to strengthen the security of Web services, Web applications, legacy applications, documents and files, and physical security systems.

MyEdge, An Online-Education Web Application
MyEdge is an online education platform for school age children. The web-based application product, MyEdge, offers supplemental opportunities and school learning programs by providing an empowering social-network-like online learning experience for K to 12 grade students. We believe that this is an area that has a huge potential by providing a site for students and their mentors to collaborate and work together towards achieving the goals set by students and/or their mentors. As such, Valiantica has developed and is currently marketing this learning web-based application. This online social network of learning is currently in pilot.
